One starry night, James was lying on his favourite bed near the window where he loved to count the stars to sleep. While he was counting the stars, a flash of light flashed across the dark sky which got his attention.
He clambered down his bed, ran into his sister's room and woke his sister up. He told his sister about the light and how mysterious it was. As a curious person, he persuaded his sister to follow him to investigate. They tip-toed out of their room and out of their house. They crept behind a bush to see what was going on. They saw...

The next story is an example of a potential story gone wrong. There were so many loopholes that I can't believe I wrote such a poor development. With a bit of tweaking, it could have been much more. Thankfully, I did not submit this incomplete mess.

In a dark, monstrous-looking house, was an inventor called Mr. Amstermat. He wanted to invent an iron robot which could do anything people can do. It was made up of chemicals flowing through unbreakable tubes in its body.
So he drew a plan of it and it was fantastic. His creation made him determined to built it. After years of inventing it, it was ready. He even added hidden weapons in its body so it could take it out and shoot bad people.
While he was pouring chemicals into the tubes, he accidentally spilled some on the robot itself. The robot jerked a little, then the eyes glowed. Its red eyes looked like fire.
It shot the inventor down dead. There was a big hole in his body, his eyes bulged and there was a big pool of blood on the floor. The robot marched straight and erect out of the house and into the city.
"AHHH!" There were shouts everywhere in the city. There were many dead people lying on the streets. Shrieks echoed through lonely roads and skulls and bones were found.
Not a single living soul was found, everyone had died, no one survived, not even one. After a while, the shooting sounds stopped.
Then, the iron monster rose into the air and flew into the sky as it could do anything. It flew into town and everybody who saw it hid. It was no use, how sad that everyone was killed, except one whose name was Stephen.
Stephen threw stones at the iron monster and its cover swung open. Stephen saw tubes of chemicals and got an idea. He took out his pocket knife and threw the knife without any hesitation.
The knife cut the tubes but nothing happened. ...

The Iron Monster (draft)

The Crazy Inventor (my submitted piece)
In a queer and quiet house, an inventor called Mr. Swinsterspan was working on an invention that was a robotic fish.
He was mixing chemicals together to get the right mixture when he accidentally spilled some on himself and BOOM! He was transformed into a crazy person. He looked pretty normal himself but when he saw people, he would knock them unconscious.
That was when his son who heard noises went to check on his father to see how well the invention was. Mr. Swinsterspan saw his son and was furious for nothing. He knocked his son unconscious and dragged his son away. He ran away into the darkness and was out of sight.
Days passed, Mr. Swinsterspan and his son was missing. The police searched the whole place to look for clues. They found footprints in the mud leading to the roadside. They followed it to the roadside and found him sitting beside his dead son.
They caught him by surprise and handcuffed him so that he could not move. They tested his blood and found out the chemical was in his blood stream.
The police brought him to the hospital to get rid of the chemical. The nurses and doctors let him have a blood transplant and he became normal again.
He was very grateful and was speechless, he could not say a word. He was really lucky to survive but was really sad that he had killed his only son.
