My Burden is Lifted

After a long dream that ended with me eating the moon and stars at a picnic, I lay partially awake in bed and began stretching my arms overhead to ease the tension in my back. That nagging backache has been with me for a couple of years and no amount of stretching advice that my mother gave me had helped. Just then, my shoulders responded with several cracking sounds. I shifted my body a little to see if I could move. Not only was I alright, but the tension in my back was gone! Praise God! I was reminded of the bible verse that had been in my phone app for the past couple of days, a sobering warning about what is to come. Watch Yourselves 34 “But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that ar...

Fair-weather Friend

*Sigh* It's a burden not being able to be straight-up honest with a friend about particular habits that irk me like: cancelling our hangouts at the last minute when I'm already waiting at the meeting place. being hours late and then changing the meeting place for one's convenience not providing a reason for cancelling the hangout or coming up with unbelievable excuses for being a no-show not being open to share about one's life but probing for more information about mine. insisting on hanging out but have no plans for the outing and no topics to chat about i.e. splitting ways to check out some shops asking for my advice and not taking it Anyway, I was in a foul mood that day after feeling that I had been walked over yet again. However, while I was walking along the roadside,  I found the following verse on my mobile app which comforted me. "Set Your Face Like Flint": 7 But the Lord God helps me; therefore I have not been disgraced; therefor...

Hero of Gotham

Image
Source: Gotham Site The last time I saw Ben McKenzie on television, he was a dark and brooding teen in The OC. Since then, he seems to have matured into a dark and brooding man. Thankfully, he seems to be slipping into the role of James Gordon just fine. I would hope that by the end of the series, I would get to see Gordon genuinely smile for once. You gotta give that hero a break, Gotham. I sure wouldn't want to live in that city. Now that the balloon man's gone, who's gonna defend Gotham City? James Gordon (or perhaps Batman, if we're lucky).

Psycho-Pass is a Literary Masterpiece

Kougami Shinya by PhantomSixMan on deviantART Kougami quoting the bible: "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life." - John 12:24 - 25 Loaded with references to a variety of literary works, Psycho-Pass is sure to give your brains a workout. The issues raised in this series include: To what extent should we allow technology to manage our lives?  What is morality? How do we decide which moral values are important?  What do we consider a perfect government system?  What are the flaws in this "utopian" government system? How likely is this scenario to occur in our current generation?  How do we decide what is justice? From the author, Urobuchi Gen, comes a masterpiece akin to the ranks of Puella Mag...

FitzSimmons

As much as I love these two brilliant scientists, I can't help but think their characters are clones of characters from other series. No offence to Iain De Caestecker and Elizabeth Henstridge, by the way. Their performances in the series are spectacular. A historical race of giants?

Image
They are called Nephilim (a humanoid hybrid of fallen angels and humans). Remember Goliath? He's a descendent of this species. They are often described as giants with physical deformities in historical texts. The account of David and Goliath (Jaloot) is given both in the Hebrew Bible and in the Qur'an. Recent archaeological evidence suggests that even if no race of giants actually existed in Gath at that time, a name similar to "Goliath" was indeed used in the area. They are a few accounts of nephilims in the bible, despite them being written by different writers at different times. Genesis 6:4 (NIV) Wickedness in the World 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humans and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. Old Testament books seldom include a byline. So we look to outside sources to discover authorship. Jewish tradition and other b...
