I attended a basic video editing workshop today and was introduced to this online editing platform called Kapwing. How does this fare against Canva, I wonder? Let's see. Created with  Kapwing.com : Created with Canva.com : Image by:  https://unsplash.com/@tanelah Just going by quality of templates, I must say that Canva has more modern and stylish options, even for fonts. Dealing with image layers on Kapwing was somewhat annoying, since the picture borders were segmented into parts for some reason. Canva is a lot more user-friendly to me, which was why I deleted my Kapwing account within the same day of creating it. I'll be sticking to Canva for now while it's still free.

Sculptures cut from a single sheet of paper by Peter Callesen

Image
Sculptures cut from a single sheet of paper by Peter Callesen.  : “By taking away all the information and starting from scratch using the white A4 paper sheet for my creations, I feel I have found a material that we are all able to relate to, and at the same time the A4 paper sheet is neutral and open to fill with different meaning. The thin white paper gives the paper sculptures a frailty that underlines the tragic and romantic theme of my works. The paper cut sculptures explore the probable and magical transformation of the flat sheet of paper into figures that expand into the space surrounding them. The negative and absent 2 dimensional space left by the cut, points out the contrast to the 3 dimensional reality it creates, even though the figures still stick to their origin without the possibility of escaping. In that sense there is also an aspect of something tragic in many of the cuts.” “By taking away all the information and starting from scratch using the w...

Look at the sky

Image
meatandsarcasm : Vincent Van Gogh : Look at the sky. It’s not dark and black and without character. The black is, in fact deep blue. And over there, lighter blue and blowing through the blues and blackness the winds swirling through the air and then shining, burning, bursting through… the stars! And you see how they roar their light. Everywhere we look, the complex magic of nature blazes before our eyes.   The Doctor : I’ve seen many things, my friend. But you’re right. Nothing quite as wonderful as the things you see. Psalm 19:1-3 New King James Version (NKJV) The Perfect Revelation of the Lord To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. 1 The heavens declare the glory of God;    And the firmament shows His handiwork. 2 Day unto day utters speech,    And night unto night reveals knowledge. 3 There is no speech nor language    Where their voice is not heard.

You Avengers, always falling off of things!

(click for big) Psalm 72 New International Version (NIV) Of Solomon. 1 Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness. 2 May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice. 3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness. 4 May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor. 5 May he endure[ a ] as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations. 6 May he be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. 7 In his days may the righteous flourish and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.

Splatters of paint

missturdle : arthistoryx : German artist Martin Klimas uses splatters of paint positioned on a scrim over a speaker. By turning up the volume, the vibration of the speaker sends the paint dancing as he shoots it through the lens of his Hasselblad camera. Buzzfeed , thank you again. [via: arthistoryx ] Ezekiel 17:2-4 New International Version 1984 (NIV1984) 2 “Son of man, set forth an allegory and tell the house of Israel a parable. 3 Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: A great eagle with powerful wings, long feathers and full plumage of varied colors came to Lebanon. Taking hold of the top of a cedar, 4 he broke off its topmost shoot and carried it away to a land of merchants, where he planted it in a city of traders.

Isaiah 61:10-11 (New International Version 1984) 10 I delight greatly in the LORD; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11 For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign LORD will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.

daily-tumbles: daily-tumbles : Hats off to all artists, whether you sketch, paint, colour, mould, animate, etc. You know we can't do what you do best. Ecclesiastes 12:1-7 1 Remember your Creator  in the days of your youth,  before the days of trouble come  and the years approach when you will say,  “I find no pleasure in them”—  2 before the sun and the light  and the moon and the stars grow dark,  and the clouds return after the rain;  3 when the keepers of the house tremble,  and the strong men stoop,  when the grinders cease because they are few,  and those looking through the windows grow dim;  4 when the doors to the street are closed  and the sound of grinding fades;  when men rise up at the sound of birds,  but all their songs grow faint;  5 when men are afraid of heights  and of dangers in the streets;  when the almond tree blossoms  and the grasshopper drags himself a...
