Quid Pro Quo

"Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only truth." - Alphonse Elric “It occurs to me you know that any one of these tools could have been the end of me last night, but you attacked me with fists and booted feet. So you didn’t want to kill me, you just wanted to hurt me. You want to do it again? ... I’m talking about reciprocity; I’m talking about quid pro quo. If you submit to my questions, I submit to a blow from this wrench. You are not certain that I hurt Maria, are you? But if you are open to suggestions I offer my hand. Come on, you are going to break any number of bones. The pain’s going to be excruciating.”  “It’s interesting, Watson, spending the night in a cell. I’m reminded that they are good places for bad people.”  - Sherlock Holmes (Elementary...

Happy Birthday!

Psalm 139 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts,a God! I thank and praise you, Lord, for the lovely bunch of colleagues, friends and family in my life. Looking back at my past self and the depressing moments then, I never would have imagined all the joy I feel today. I can never thank God enough for all the people who have seen me through my darkest times: - my school mates - my online church famil...

Before I start my review of the series, I have to say that I enjoy watching crime drama in general, so I might be biased towards most crime drama series. Nonetheless, I'll do my best. Hits Brilliant acting by Sherlock and Watson (Jonny Lee Miller must have a memory palace, because I don't know how one can ramble so many lines without a hitch. Benedict Cumberbatch may be popular, but he hasn't done 3x24 40-min episodes of Sherlock yet, which would be awesome.) Plenty of character development for the main three (Sherlock, Watson and Bell) The introduction of Sherlock's protege (i.e. the potential rivalry) Subtle jokes that usually slip right under the radar Joan Watson's timeless wardrobe Simple but effective soundtrack Rich backdrops/crime scenes Misses The types of crime are becoming either more boring or more unbelievable, some of them r...
