Practical Spying

Image
I've always liked detective stories and investigation mysteries and dreamt of being a cop, detective, secret agent, etc. Naturally, this book was attractive. But more than that, it actually contains practical tips for surviving the real world. The mind is the only weapon that a spy is guaranteed to discharge on a daily basis. Learning some spy tactics will help us be better prepared to face the troubles of daily life.

Test Yourself

Discovery Health: Locus of Control and Attribution Style Test (10 questions, 5 min) For more Discovery Health tests, click  here . Do you control your destiny or are you controlled by it? Some people believe that they hold the power to control the outcome of their actions. Other people feel that the outcome of their actions is determined by external factors. What is your locus of control? And what forces are responsible for your successes and failures? These important attitudes affect your motivation, expectations, self-esteem, risk-taking behavior and the actual outcome of your actions. This test assesses your locus of control orientation and your attribution style. "A locus of control orientation is a belief about whether the outcomes of our actions are contingent on what we do (internal control orientation) or on events outside our personal control (external control orientation)." (Zimbardo, 1985, p. 275) Our attribution style determines which forces we hold responsible fo...

Personality Tests

I recently took an online test based on Jung - Myers-Briggs typology @  http://www.humanmetrics.com  and scored an INFJ profile. Seems like I've changed over the past few years. Kicking Into Overdrive

I'm so glad Mystic Force is finally over. It was both a joy & pain to watch it. Firstly, only the first few and the last few episodes were good, with the exception of the Dark Wish trilogy which rocked. In addition, there was no SPD/MF team-up, which was disappointing but unavoidable due to the constraints of having a 32 episode season. It may have been a good thing, though, 'cos it dashed all chances of MF ruining the SPD season. Anyway, on to the next season, Operation Overdrive... The first few episodes seemed quite good, but from past experience, I kinda expect the season to deteriorate rapidly. And the season HAD to start off on the wrong foot by introducing a horrible opening theme, which I may be forced to get used to eventually. This season's characters have potential to shine, but I'm hoping that they will be given the opportunity to, without having to reuse Boukenger plot material.

Know the Game Badminton

Image
I recently read a book about badminton which is really useful. It's called " Know the Game Badminton " produced by the Badminton Association of England. I highly recommend badminton lovers to read it. Summary: Know the Game Badminton provides beginners and more experienced players with instruction on how to improve their standard of play. There are helpful sections on equipment, service, tactics and strokes, as well as information on singles, doubles and short badminton.

Clash

So far, I've been busy slacking. Contradicting, huh? Anyway, I'm supposed to meet up with my old friends tonight. At the same time, I'm supposed to go for a movie with my relatives, but since I couldn't go, my mum wanted my little brother to take my place, not knowing that my brother was underage. What a clash! Thank God, He gave me a way out. This morning, my friend called to cancel the gathering & postponed it to another day. So, I'm able to go for the movie and meet up with my friends. :) This morning, I was watching some cartoons and somehow, both had included the theme of freedom. It made me think: freedom is what everybody craves, isn't it? Slaves want physical freedom, teenagers want personal freedom. Yet, we are never able to gain total freedom, especially living in a city. Things might have been more different if we were living in the countryside. :/ But basically, in order to achieve freedom, we have to fight for it. (Literarily, not literally...

Extreme Ghostbusters

Image
Despite all the hate towards this series, I still love the catchy opening theme, the characters and the classic lines. Definitely worth the rewatch. Watching Eduardo and Garrett bickering like an old couple amuses me, though I 'ship EdKy. There's so many things to love about this underrated cartoon: 1. Females get to kick ecto-plasmic butt. 2. Despite the wheelchair, Garrett pulls his own weight and doesn't give a crap about self-pity. 3. Nerdy humour and cheap puns. I remember the episode "Fear Itself", where everyone had to face their worst fear. << SPOILERS >> XD Egon's fear was really funny - the fear of being seen naked in public! Funny how he could stay calm in that situation. Slimer's fear of broccoli really flipped me out! Garrett had his claustrophobia to worry about, Roland had his fear of machines that come to life, Eduardo faced his fear of death and Kylie with her fear of giant worms... I also found Eduardo's cru...

Comics

When it comes to borrowing books from the library, I'll always head straight for the comics section as a teen. Comics are great, they tell stories almost as well as TV shows do. Plus, they convey their story plots better than ordinary story books do. Firstly, you can "see" exactly what is going on. While plain story books let your imagination run wild, what you imagine may differ from what the authors intended. *Want to watch the latest Marvel cartoons or read the latest Marvel comics? Go here . Or see the comic world encyclopedia @ Spider-Bob . (*The links no longer work.) Anyway, some of the comic series I have come across and would recommend are: For kids & youths Zondervan & Zonderkidz  graphic novels (E.g. Tomo, MangaBible)  Warriors Twisted Journeys Adam The Baby-Sitters Club graphic novels ( The Baby-Sitters Club )  Choose Your Own Adventure 我为歌狂 (Wo Wei Ge Kuang)(Music Up) 搏斗天王 Ge Dou Tian Wang (Mr. Fighting): T.F.K.C Zits Luann...

Lots Of "Me" Time

Currently, I'm waiting for my 'A' level results & have lots of free time to do anything I want. Most of my friends are working part-time to earn some pocket money. But as for me,  I'm a big time slacker , and proud of it too. :P I know, people think I'm really lazy and all that, but who cares? Besides, I'll be working for the rest of my life when I'm older. So why start now? *Sigh* Everyone's bugging me to get a job - and a life. :/ Anyway, what I intend to do during my extended holiday are: write some fanfics read my library books watch TV play computer games enjoy life, eat, sleep, etc.
