Homosexuality & Same-Sex Marriage
It seems that people who support homosexuality and same-sex marriage have been quoting scriptures out of context to support their perspective. They ask why polygamy is accepted in the bible but not homosexuality.
So here’s my take:
- Let me clarify that polygamy is not encouraged by God, as stated in the law of the requirements of a king. Throughout the bible, there have been instances of polygamy as a result of personal choice and we can see the consequences of their actions and how God has the power to turn events around. God knows all that will come to pass and uses us to accomplish a greater purpose. After all, people did shout for Barnabas’ release over Jesus’, and look how that turned out.
Deuteronomy 17:1717 He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.
- God made one man and one woman. That was the relationship He had intended for mankind to mate.
- Mankind fell into sin and corrupted anything that God had made for good.
- Homosexuality is stated as a sin in the bible. However, we are also to love our neighbours as ourselves. For we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. A sin is still is sin.
- Let us spur one another on toward love and good deeds, without causing others to stumble.
- We should take the plank out of our own eyes before taking the speck out of others’. Get your relationship right with God first.
Hebrews 10:23-25
Genesis till the end of the bible shows both the good and bad of man and how God orchestrates events to judge or redeem us.

Sodom & Gomorrah is a prime example of God’s judgment, because they had fallen into a state where sin was rampant, even rape and orgies were accepted. As shown in the passage below, all men young and old wanted to have sex with the angels (which are genderless, by the way) that visited Lot. (Note that the men refer to the angels as alien/foreigners.) So this leads me to think that GLBT sex, even bestiality, was accepted then, since they obviously approved of otherworldly sex and have lost control over their lustful desires.
For those that condemn Lot for offering his daughters instead of the angels, I would like to say that although I do not approve of his actions, who’s to say what we would do under those circumstances? Nonetheless, he was desperate to get the men to leave his guests alone. Defiling angels would be a greater blasphemy. (It did happen in Genesis though, which resulted in the birth of Nephilims – half angel-half man. Many of them became great heroes of ancient legend. I suspect that people may have worshipped them as gods.)
Genesis 6:1-8
Genesis 19:1-11
So should gay marriage be approved? Although I do not approve of it, I will not resort to violent opposition/rioting if people cry out for its legalisation. However, do take note of the following points:
- If gay marriage is approved, then you can be sure that supporters of pedophilia, zoosexuals and all other types of incestuous and otherworldly marriages would soon fight to legalise their practices. This will mean that eventually, people can officiate marriages between man and a child, rhino, pen or even a fictional character.
- 1 Corinthians 6:9-20
- Divorce isn’t approved by God either, but God allowed Moses to issue divorce certificates on circumstantial basis. Even then, people took advantage of the system to divorce whenever they like. So it doesn’t matter if gay marriage is approved or not, because people will still do whatever and take advantage of any loopholes to make their practices accepted in society.
- Matthew 19:1-12
