I just love all the little Sheldon expressions. << Warning: Pics are from season 4. >>

Thoughts on the Road

I was away for the past week on a group trip to Hong Kong, Guangdong (China) & Macau. There were times on the road when I just had to write some notes in a little notebook. Random thoughts on... the cold weather - it freezes the pee out of you. For some reason, the weather is cold enough to make your trips to the W.C. more frequent. driving - say your prayers when on the road. Driving in China is like having a death wish. The cyclists & pedestrians think they own the road and cross the streets, expecting cars to stop for them. At some point, I was thinking that road kill is a form of population control. Forgive me, Lord. driving - Honk if you say 'Hi'. Drivers honk their horns as often as one would step on the brakes. And the cyclists and pedestrians mostly do not heed the warnings. Hong Kong - of hills and roller-coasters. The roads in Hong Kong are steep like rollercoasters because the country is situated in hilly or mountainous areas. Driving there ca...

Rubbish out of nothing

I'm eager to write, but having no idea whatsoever, have decided to spam hit the keyboard and then type whatever words I can think off. Estify

I hereby announce the official launch of my new blog that serves to testify of God's goodness and edify fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. *2 June 2012 update: posts from Estify have been moved to this blog, because Blogger still beats Wordpress. In other words, Estify has been deleted off the web.* God bless.

Chihayafuru

Image
It's a hidden gem of an anime this season about 2 guys (Arata & Taichi) and a girl (Chihaya) who share a passion of karuta (a memory card game of a 100 poems) since childhood. But after parting ways and moving on with life, Chihaya clings on to the passion of the game in the hope that the trio will play the game together again. So far, I've watched 6 episodes and I'm hungry for more. Episode 6 Review

Working'!!

Image
Watching season 2 of Working!!, which comes with a ' in between. And so far, I'm loving it to bits. All the characters work in a restaurant called Wagnaria. And each character has his/her quirk, so if character interactions are your thing and you don't care much for plot, this is a laid-back slice-of-life comedy for you. From left: Kyoko (the lazy glutton of a manager), Yachiyo (chief and Kyoko's willing slave), Soma (cunning chef who makes it his business to know everyone else's business), Sato (quiet and serious chef with an unrequited 'like' for Yachiyo) Yamada (likes to pick and choose family, a clumsy and spoilt brat), Soma (business as usual), Takanashi (loves small things, practically raises his family of 4 sisters), Popura (small girl who wants to grow tall), Inami (can't help but punch men who are within close range) These aren't all the main characters. These are.

Heroes United

Image
Ben 10 & Generator Rex fans, get pumped up for the upcoming Ben 10 / Gen Rex crossover episode on Nov 25. Judging from Ben's design, it appears to be an alternate reality Ben who is in his 20s. Those who attended one of the comic-cons this year might have seen a sneak peek of this ep, so there might be video clips of it floating around the web. The following pictures are not mine. They are from the Ben 10 & Gen Rex wikia: http://ben10.wikia.com/wiki/Ben_10-Generator_Rex:_Heroes_United http://generatorrexpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Ben_10/Generator_Rex:_Heroes_United You can also read forum discussions here .

Freedom in the sky

Writing prompt #1: Pick a word or phrase at random, let mind play freely around it until a few ideas have come up, then seize on one and begin to write. Try this with a non-connotative word, like "so" etc. Freely the eagle soars without a care in the world, above the mountains, riding the up-drafts that race across and sweep the sky. The clouds tuck the lofty snow caps in their lush wool. As breathtaking as the scene is, the eagle has to keep moving, for the attractive rose has its icy thorns, piercing the skin and sinking deeper beneath.

Head of the Household

Exactly 6 weeks back, I was inspired by God to clean up the house. 6 weeks later today, my shelves are more than 50% tidied, and some study space has been created. It's not much progress. Lately though, I've been getting another instruction - clean up the spiritual house and make God the centre of it. All distractions should be put aside as more temptations come our way. In the past 2 days, there were close calls where my parents almost fought. I had to take the blame. I got into an argument with my mum too. I felt broken and cried to God for help. It is said that when a man is most broken is he the strongest, because when we've lost all pride and solely rely on God, He strengthens us. All I can do now is pray that my parents will allow God to be the head of the household and the glue of the family. Only then will everything else fall into place. I thank God that I was led to watch the movie Fireproof with my dad, because he responded well to it. Now to continue wi...

Recline

Writing prompt #36: Work with a number of objects, moving them around on a field or surface-describe their shifting relationships, resonance's, associations. Or, write a series of poems that have only to do with what you see in the place where you most often write. Or, write a poem in each room of your house or apartment. Experiment with doing this in the home you grew up in, if possible. Everything reclines in their positions in the study. A massage roller lying unused. The coffee cup, unwashed since time long forgotten, brown with stains, a silver spoon tucked inconspicuously into its depths. A mountain heap of bags strewn across the floor, like the bottom of a tree on Christmas, gathering dust, their contents unknown. Piles of broken printers, conveniently placed aside and replaced by the next new printer, garnering the jealousy of its peers. Shelves filled to the brim, yellowed books and flyers stacked on top of each other. Other assortments of shelves filled with a queer mix...

By Morning Light

Writing prompt #17: Experiment with writing in every person and tense every day. Attempt #1: First person; present & future tense The musically-timed rap on the door signals the return of the stocky old man, only to raise suspicion when nobody attends to the door. As if in a little dance, the old man's finger lifts and falls, flitting near a round little button, hovers, then squarely misses. He tries again and lady luck greets him with a joyful tune buzzing as he succeeds. No answer. He knocks the door louder and with more urgency in its tone. The pudgy old man, with large round dark stains under his arms, drenched in a nauseating stench, curses loudly in a slurred stupor. He resorts to slamming the brown hardwood with meaty fists, kicking to punctuate his anger. << Warning: Mature content; ages 18+ >>
