You Avengers, always falling off of things!

gingerhaze : You Avengers, always falling off of things! Sure, it looks cool, but the Hulk can only be so many places at once. (click for big) Psalm 72 New International Version (NIV) Of Solomon. 1 Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness. 2 May he judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice. 3 May the mountains bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness. 4 May he defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; may he crush the oppressor. 5 May he endure[ a ] as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations. 6 May he be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth. 7 In his days may the righteous flourish and prosperity abound till the moon is no more.

My Top Graphic Novel Pairings

Image
I had been meaning to post this for months but hadn't gotten round to it till now. I'll update the post as soon as I can recall my other ships. Here goes: #05: Wally West / Shayera (The Flash / Hawkgirl) I loved them on Justice League Unlimited. Most viewers would say that they make better siblings, which I understand and agree with to some extent, but one can always dream. Not to mention there's John John and Hawkman in the way. XP #04: Oliver Queen / Dinah Laurel Lance (Green Arrow / Black Canary) The two of them were awesome fighters in Justice League the animated series as well as other spin-offs. Their ongoing banters are hilarious. #03: Garth Ranzz / Imra Ardeen (Lightning Lad / Saturn Girl) Garthra is a more recent ship that I've jumped on since the LSH animated series premièred. While the animated series (with less-than-pleasing character designs) featured them less, it sufficiently showed a kid-friendly version of the tension betwee...

Exile

missturdle : seinemajestat : ljdsbgkdfng;kdfg THIS CAME UP WHILE I WAS PLAYING “ONE OF US” 2 Kings 17:27-29 (New International Version) 27 Then the king of Assyria gave this order: “Have one of the priests you took captive from Samaria go back to live there and teach the people what the god of the land requires.” 28 So one of the priests who had been exiled from Samaria came to live in Bethel and taught them how to worship the LORD.

Why I DON'T Want to Read Comics

Response to Why I DON'T Want to Read Comics I swear this is the kind of response I get from most people around me who think comics/graphic novels are for kids. I wouldn't want to miss the look on their faces when they discover the deepest end of the comic pool. As for the non-comics reader in that interview who seemed adamant about not touching comics ever, I think he doesn't even know how to read a comic book because of the complexity of their layout combined with those "word bubbles" he talked about. The panel layout of comics today are a lot more sophisticated than they were in the past. The ability to read them is part of visual literacy. Not learning to read visual material fluently is a huge loss on his part, because that's an essential skill in everyday tasks like reading newspapers and surfing websites. Besides that, when you've grown attached to things that have been huge influences on you in your childhood days, the sentimental value remains ...

What are you? by Iila

andrastesflamingarse : jesic :  What are you?, by iila Pay close attention now, Steve. Best reaction yet.

I do like X-men.

Yes, it feels darn good whenever I get their jokes. Even better when I know who Stan Lee  Adam West is, after watching the old Batman TV reruns years back. It was lame, but great for random giggles if you like comic book  graphic novel "wham-bam-pow" word splashes. And just to clarify, Marvel is to DC as the Avengers is to the Justice League. So please stop saying that all the comic book superheroes live in the same universe. I'm torn between the two universes. (Don't ask me about the Infinite Crisis thing, because I have no idea what it's about, but I'm inclined to think that there are parallel universes and the villain intended to destroy the original universe to wipe out the existence of the rest or something to that extent.) But who cares about all that? Sheldon rocks. Sure, he may be a pain in the arse, but he can be like an innocent, adorable grown-up child sometimes. How his family puts up with him is beyond me. Raj snatches his lima beans ba...

Superpowers & Character Alignments

Image
Superpowers of any character from any show usually fall under at least 1 of any of these  types (adapted and compiled from Mutant X and other superhero or good vs evil shows): Elemental: The control of natural science and the forces of nature. E.g. the control over weather, plants, magnetic fields, physical surroundings Feral: Something to do with animalistic or enhanced physical abilities. E.g. animal-like strength, canine/feline/bestial abilities Molecular: Something to do with a physical mutation and/or the ability to manipulate the body structure or objects at a molecular level. E.g. walking through objects, invisibility, invincibility, self-healing, shape-shifting, size-alteration, transmutation of matter Psionic: Something to do with mental or psychic abilities/manipulation. E.g. visions/premonitions, illusions, psychic blasts, erasing/altering memories, ability to enter people's dreams, mind control, manipulate emotions Divine or Demonic; Magical; S...

Monster Allergy Blues

Image
What a coincidence that the following two cartoons originate from comics. Monster Allergy I just found out that I was a season behind for the cartoon, Monster Allergy. All this while, I had been thinking that I had watched the season finale and that that was it for the heroes, not knowing that there had been season 2. Oh well, that means more episodes to watch. (Great news for me!) Ambushed! Baby Blues Along comes my favourite comic book family of 5. I didn't know it had been animated into a cartoon series. It's seriously underrated, because it actually provides so much more wholesome family entertainment compared to The Simpsons & The Family Guy (both of which have deteriorated in quality after the first few seasons). Baby Blues, on the other hand, kept it short and sweet (partly because it got cancelled due to its lack of popularity). Oh well, that's our loss. Anyway, we still have the comics to fall back on (Scrapbook 27 bei...

Comics

When it comes to borrowing books from the library, I'll always head straight for the comics section as a teen. Comics are great, they tell stories almost as well as TV shows do. Plus, they convey their story plots better than ordinary story books do. Firstly, you can "see" exactly what is going on. While plain story books let your imagination run wild, what you imagine may differ from what the authors intended. *Want to watch the latest Marvel cartoons or read the latest Marvel comics? Go here . Or see the comic world encyclopedia @ Spider-Bob . (*The links no longer work.) Anyway, some of the comic series I have come across and would recommend are: For kids & youths Zondervan & Zonderkidz  graphic novels (E.g. Tomo, MangaBible)  Warriors Twisted Journeys Adam The Baby-Sitters Club graphic novels ( The Baby-Sitters Club )  Choose Your Own Adventure 我为歌狂 (Wo Wei Ge Kuang)(Music Up) 搏斗天王 Ge Dou Tian Wang (Mr. Fighting): T.F.K.C Zits Luann...
