Michelin Star Closures

When Michelin Stars Don’t Pay the Bills – Singapore’s F&B Reality Check - 8days https://share.google/nH5oygByHgzYUGgo6 Here are the key points from the text: Restaurants Need to Be Businesses 📈  * Business Success Over Awards: Winning awards like a Michelin star doesn't guarantee business success 🌟. Recent restaurant closures underscore this need.  * Chefs as Entrepreneurs : Many chefs aren't trained entrepreneurs, making business fundamentals like marketing, branding, customer fit , and having a business plan crucial. 🧑‍🍳➡️💼 The Recipe for Success: The "Trifecta" and Beyond 💡  * The "Trifecta": Long-term success involves a focus on three key areas:    * Product: Differentiation and quality in offerings. 🍽️    * Finances: Handling finances well. 💰    * Marketing: Effective marketing. 📣  * Customer Focus Leads to Innovation: Adapting to customer preferences, like launching a " dim sum style " brunch trolley after noticing gu...

Elementary S1-3 Review

Image
Ice-cream - a temporary means of catharsis Just like the ice-cream, Elementary is a guilty pleasure. Before I start my review of the series, I have to say that I enjoy watching crime drama in general, so I might be biased towards most crime drama series. Nonetheless, I'll do my best. Hits Brilliant acting by Sherlock and Watson (Jonny Lee Miller must have a memory palace, because I don't know how one can ramble so many lines without a hitch. Benedict Cumberbatch may be popular, but he hasn't done 3x24 40-min episodes of Sherlock yet, which would be awesome.) Plenty of character development for the main three (Sherlock, Watson and Bell) The introduction of Sherlock's protege (i.e. the potential rivalry) Subtle jokes that usually slip right under the radar Joan Watson's timeless wardrobe Simple but effective soundtrack Rich backdrops/crime scenes Misses The types of crime are becoming either more boring or more unbelievable, some of them r...

14 Ways to Save Money on Groceries

Image
meatandsarcasm : 14 Ways to Save Money on Groceries 1.  Line the bottom of your refrigerator’s crisper drawer with paper towels. They’ll absorb the excess moisture that causes vegetables to rot.  2.  To keep herbs tasting fresh for up to a month, store whole bunches, washed and sealed in plastic bags, in the freezer. When you need them, they’ll be easier to chop, and they’ll defrost the minute they hit a hot pan.  3.  A bay leaf slipped into a container of flour, pasta, or rice will help repel bugs. 4.  Stop cheese from drying out by spreading butter or margarine on the cut sides to seal in moisture. This is most effective with hard cheeses sealed in wax.  5.  When radishes, celery, or carrots have lost their crunch, simply pop them in a bowl of iced water along with a slice of raw potato and watch the limp vegetables freshen up right before your eyes. 6.  Avoid separating bananas until you plan to eat them – they spoil less quickly i...

Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” 29 Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so.

Hanging Out

Went out with my friend today. She wanted to do some shopping, and in the end, we did - window shopping. It's kinda funny because we're polar opposites when it comes to shopping. She goes for the wants, I go for the needs. But at least we can both agree on one thing - we're very picky. So much so that we can take a long time to select the right thing and we end up not buying anything, which is good for our pockets. I'll take that as good training for resisting temptation. These are the questions I ask myself when selecting the right product: Is this the item you need? If you went shopping for ________, then why are you looking at _ *insert unrelated good*_ ? Is it within your budget? (Sidenote: Personally, I find that carrying very little cash with you really helps to cut down on spending. Don't bring your credit cards either. You can't spend much if you don't have enough money with you. P.S. It's also a good trollin' excuse when so...
