Backfronting

G.I. Joe: Renegades Episode 23 "Cousins" Once again, I have made the mistake of backfronting an episode. (Backfronting: the act of doing something backwards forward. I made it up, by the way.) In this case, I accidentally watched part 2 of the episode "Cousins" before part 1, which wasn't a completely bad idea since it became a "put-the-pieces-together-yourself" episode. Pretty cool, actually. Anyway, I think I'm getting tired of the string of character-centric episodes. It feels like the whole team's been split up. But I still go "aww..." every time I see a family reunion scene and the team being invited for a homemade meal. Gotta love the warm fuzzies. P.S. I disagree with the outback dude. There are differences between a gator and a croc . (Someone's gotta be a killjoy, no?) The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Episode "The Man in the Ant Hill" And I ended up watching this re-run, hoping for some Henry/J...

Monster Allergy Blues

Image
What a coincidence that the following two cartoons originate from comics. Monster Allergy I just found out that I was a season behind for the cartoon, Monster Allergy. All this while, I had been thinking that I had watched the season finale and that that was it for the heroes, not knowing that there had been season 2. Oh well, that means more episodes to watch. (Great news for me!) Ambushed! Baby Blues Along comes my favourite comic book family of 5. I didn't know it had been animated into a cartoon series. It's seriously underrated, because it actually provides so much more wholesome family entertainment compared to The Simpsons & The Family Guy (both of which have deteriorated in quality after the first few seasons). Baby Blues, on the other hand, kept it short and sweet (partly because it got cancelled due to its lack of popularity). Oh well, that's our loss. Anyway, we still have the comics to fall back on (Scrapbook 27 bei...

Striking imperial villains in the gong - Dong Yi

Image
Never have I cheered so much for the hero since the Power Rangers... until now. Dong Yi is a Korean drama that I'm currently into. It is about a clueless king, a wise servant and a conspiracy by the villains to overthrow the queen. The main villains, the king's concubine (a.k.a. 2nd wife) and her brother (a high-ranking official) frames the queen and eventually gets her banished. Dong Yi, a lowly servant, catches wind of the conspiracy and conducts her own private investigation, only to find evidence of foul play. The villains find out, which sparks off a wild goose chase to kill Dong Yi, leading to a series of "unfortunate events". Throw in a forbidden romance, chance or fate, and it becomes  the  story of a lifetime. What I find awesome is how Dong Yi's friends break the rules and risk their lives to help Dong Yi in her quest to right the wrong. That goes to show that no man (or woman) is an is...

Blood Moon

Image
Over 700 turn up to catch red moon by Sia Ling Xin How does the moon get the red colour? Original uploader was Raycluster at en.wikipedia and TheWusa at de.wikipedia That is just magnificent. Yet culturally, it is also regarded as a symbol of a bad omen. What is strange is that even though I was unaware of the eclipse last night, I had a nightmare during the event: I had finally found a group of friends whom I clicked with. A tight-knit group slowly discovering our special powers. We were suddenly thrown together in an ad hoc team and have been temporarily living in the back of a moving pick-up, which was alright for us since we were always on the go/run anyway. So far, we've been saving lives on a daily basis but recently, we have been on a covert mission, strictly on need-to-know basis as ordered by the higher-ups. (A drive-by truck had stuck intel packages on their roof meant for our team leade...

Targets

Image
Omg, it's been so long since I've watched Young Justice . I miss it. And Kid Flash & Robin. And the Justice League. My favourite episode in Justice League? The Great Brain Robbery. Why? These. (Lex Luthor and the Flash swap minds.) My favourite characters in JL & JLU are Wally (Flash) & Shayera (Hawkgirl). They are highly underrated compared to the big names Superman, Batman & Wonder Woman. And yes, I secretly ship Flash/Hawkgirl. Too bad it has a small fandom. They need more love. Although their interactions in JL & JLU are few, they show that they care for each other. Most fans don't ship them because they feel that it's more of a big sister-little brother ship. (Shayera does seem older and definitely more mature than Wally.) Plus, there's the canon Hawkman-Hawkgirl-Green Lantern triangle to worry about. Gah, it's like a soap opera with those 3. Young Justice Episode 10 Review (Warning: Spoilers) I love how the episode...

Happy Royai Day!

Image
Dear Royai shippers, Happy Royai Day! Let's celebrate all the Roy & Riza moments in the past, present and future! RoyAi Day 2011 by ~ lilianadc on deviant ART What is Royai? Royai is the love between two awesome Fullmetal Alchemist characters - Colonel Roy Mustang and First Lieutenant Riza Hawk eye . 'Ai' ( æ„›)  means love in Japanese. So Roy+Hawkeye+Ai = Royai. (Note the pun. Clever, eh?) Why is Royai Day on June 11? No one really knows why. It originated in Japan some years back, and forum discussions have led to several possible speculations: June 11 may have been the date a Fullmetal Alchemist chapter (which featured a significant Royai moment) was released. The numbers 611 could have held major significance to Mustang and Hawkeye's relationship in the story line (e.g. Ishbal war event dates, room numbers, etc.). Trivia Did you know that EdWin Day (503)  is on May 3? W...

Funny & Sad

Just reblogging some funny pics. Enjoy. Disclaimer: I do not own the following pictures except those with the ThunderStorm weblink in them.

Fall in line, people!

Join the queue, people! Cos The Penguins of Madagascar are making waves large enough to cause a stir in the zoo enclosures. If you've watched any of the Madagascar movies, you'd know who the real stars of the show are. Catch the penguins with a mission in action - Skipper, Kowalski, Rico & Private. Just smile and wave, boys. Just smile and wave. The Last Airbender: The Legend of Korra No thanks to the person who decided to claim the Avatar trademark/copyright/naming right for himself, ATLA had to rename its sequel. Nickelodeon had originally planned for 12 episodes of “Korra” but recently decided to order 14 more episodes. The sequel is set to be released in mid-2012. “Korra” takes place in a similar setting as its predecessor, but with a more steampunk feel to it, possibly like the Northern Air Temple, due to the 70 years of technological advancement that have passed. In this world, some inhabitants are “bender...

Avatarded Again

20 Years by * rufftoon on deviant ART Gosh, rufftoon makes yet another masterpiece. Go clickey to see more awesomeness. Immediately, I was reminded of wholesome Avatar goodness and went to check on the DA Avatar fandom and what do I see? Tons of hilarious fanart and crack pairings. Bwahahaha! You guys just made my day! The cabbage merchant, cabbage pick-up lines, crazy foaming guy, foam-bending... Genius. Some words for Avatards (ages 16+) out there: Avatar Abridged by GanXingba. Now when I think back on the failure that is TLA the movie, I wonder what it could have been had all the right decisions been made. Katara: "Now that I know he's out there... Now that I know we can find him... I feel like I have no choice." Aang: "Katara, you do have a choice; forgiveness." Zuko: "That's the same as doing nothing." Aang: "No, it's not. It's easy to do nothing, but it's hard to forgive." Looking ahead, we still have Leg...
