Legend of Korra Book 1 Finale

Okay here are my problems in brief:

Korra, Mako, and...
:

<< Warning: Spoilers >>

Okay here are my problems in brief:
  • Korra, Mako, and Bolin’s character development fell to the wayside of the plot.
  • the dialogue is stilted and terrible
  • Really Mako is “The Love Interest” and Bolin is the “Comic Relief” and they don’t get to be much else or even have much of a relationship with each other.
  • I hate hate hate Mako/Korra. It’s taking over the space where character development and plot should be taking place and it feels shabbily put together and has no chemistry, stakes, or interest.
  • It also makes Mako look like a bad guy, meanwhile he doesn’t actually break up with Asami?
  • It’s never explained how bending blood alone takes away a person’s bending?
  • All the fan theories were a 1000x more thought out and interesting.
  • Amon as Noatok and his baby brother Tarlok as a flashback story was probably the most sympathetic and riveting/developed (albeit anvilicious) story we got all SEASON.
  • Which is sad.
  • Asami’s story line deflated the stakes or the sympathy for her dad and it just was ultimately disappointing.
  • Bolin was literally useless to the cause.
  • at one point I said: “yet again i have more emotional investment, in everyone but the main trio.”
  • The airbenders should have escaped but despite Lin sacrificing herself they got caught.
  • Korra has no agency as a female character and passes out anytime something happens and literally cannot seem to fight. It’s frustrating to think that KATARA trained her (Katara, who could raise up the ocean under her power and throw another ship across the ocean) but Korra doesn’t use the ENTIRE OCEAN as the AVATAR to protect the incoming fleets?
  • Every moment she does something she seeks validation and attention from Mako and it’s frustrating and annoying.
  • Nothing was truly “fixed” or solved in Republic City.
  • It doesn’t make sense to “gain” airbending at the last moment.
  • Bolin basically points out he’s going to be quiet in a corner and it’s painfully ironic
  • Mako “loves” korra and that’s supposed to be her validation.
  • She tells him to go away (RIGHTFULLY SO?) and he follows her.
  • Korra gets all her bending back and gives Lin her bending back and becomes a fully realized avatar and you’re right by the end of the show, the last ten minutes all the stakes are gone, the plot problems of the equalists and the inequality and gangs of Republic City are just…ignored. But basically it was frustrating to see development and character arcs become less important and Korra not actually do anything on her own

I agree with everything mentioned above.
What pissed me off the most was that Tarrlok had more character development in 2 episodes than what Bolin & Asami got for almost the entire season. The "romance" actually killed the whole season for me. My interest in Makorra changed from slight liking to utter disgust. I liked Borra for the most part, until Bolin got over his crush immediately after the incident. Whatever happened to his major hangover moment?
