Wheel of Life *Updated Aug 2024*

Admittedly, I have some emotional baggage to deal with, so I had to go for a counselling session this morning. During which, I was asked to do several things:
  1. list my problems
  2. chart my happiness level throughout my life on a line graph
  3. prioritise my problems in a pie chart
  4. make a plan
  5. take action

Later at home, I was surfing online, read about a reflection tool developed by Paul J. Meyer, founder of Success Motivation® Institute, Inc. called the Wheel of Life and found websites to chart my life where I could plot different aspects of my development on a scale of 1 (pathetic) - 10 (awesome).

In hindsight, I might have been making up for it in these aspects via online alternatives. For example, to make up for my non-existent love life, I turn to shipping. I enjoy the satisfaction of absorbing every single fluffy moment like a sponge, soaking in the fandom atmosphere and spreading the love. Somehow, it's even better than real life. You feel for the characters like they're a part of your life - you smile and cry with them. (Oh my Avatar, you won't believe the legendary war between Zutara and Kataang! I wasn't even there and yet I felt the burn of the afterflames. Thank heavens I'm a Sukka shipper!)

As for my social interaction, I make up for it online. Perhaps the events in the book, "Awaken" by Katie Kacvinsky, may not be so far off after all. Imagine a future that is almost completely digitalised in 2040. I'm in the midst of reading this book, but I'd recommend it to fans of dystopian worlds. A little shipping doesn't hurt, either.

It's been 3 years since this was first posted.
Thank God for the progress over the years, no matter how small.
It's still a step forward.

I can't believe the number of new friends I've made online and offline. I wouldn't have imagined myself in 2011 stepping out in faith to join an external church cell group, meeting an online community irl and actually beginning to enjoy aspects of my career working with kids. It truly has been a miraculous journey thus far.

Awareness of Emotions

Also known as EQ, this is an underrated skill that is not emphasised enough before youths enter the workforce.

Use this interactive wheel to get in touch with your emotions:

My Leadership Style
Takeaways:
Leaning into your strengths
  1. Empathetic manager
  2. Good team leader
  3. In-depth knowledge of curriculum, subject matter expert

Areas for improvement:
  1. Confidence and Conflict Avoidance
    • Not avoid conflict and being afraid of offending others
  2. Communication
    • Sharing in meetings
    • Collaborating more
    • Clarify with others
  3. Be strategic and heads up
  • Weakness: May lack the disciplined thought processes necessary to construct a strategic view

"Good strategies are complexifiers - they extend everything to its extreme before they get down to the essence.

Simplifiers close too early - they are impatient to get it done faster. Be tolerant of unlimited exploration and debate before you move to close."
