Striking imperial villains in the gong - Dong Yi
Never have I cheered so much for the hero since the Power Rangers... until now. Dong Yi is a Korean drama that I'm currently into. It is about a clueless king, a wise servant and a conspiracy by the villains to overthrow the queen.
The main villains, the king's concubine (a.k.a. 2nd wife) and her brother (a high-ranking official) frames the queen and eventually gets her banished. Dong Yi, a lowly servant, catches wind of the conspiracy and conducts her own private investigation, only to find evidence of foul play. The villains find out, which sparks off a wild goose chase to kill Dong Yi, leading to a series of "unfortunate events". Throw in a forbidden romance, chance or fate, and it becomes the story of a lifetime.
What I find awesome is how Dong Yi's friends break the rules and risk their lives to help Dong Yi in her quest to right the wrong. That goes to show that no man (or woman) is an island - a little support goes a long way.
