A quick message about sin
At the beginning, our first ancestors Adam & Eve were made in perfection and dwelled in the presence of God, but by freewill, they chose disobedience and sinned. And sin is a hereditary disease. Since then, everyone is born with sin.
The problem with us is sin. And we know it. Any person can tell you that. It’s a cancer, an asthma choking out our life force, forcing our separation from a perfect and holy God. The only way to get back is to return to perfection. But sin cannot be removed by good deeds.
This is us:
“Heap up your good deeds. Chant, pray, meditate.” But all of that of course is spraying cologne on a corpse. Or you can choose to ignore it as if something don’t stink. It’s like stepping in dog poo and refusing to wipe off your shoe. But how good is good enough?
If life cost you a soul, you ain’t got a big enough piggy bank. Throw away your list of good deeds, because even your acts are an extension of selfishness (to fool yourself into believing that it will be good enough to atone for your sins.)
Here’s where it gets interesting:
a) You can’t fix yourself. Quit trying. It ain’t possible. Sin brings death. The only way to fix it is if a perfect person dies and trades his perfection for your sins, or the payment isn’t permanent. So if and when you find a perfect person, get him or her to willingly trade perfection for your sin and death end.
b) Clearly, since the only one who can meet God’s criteria is God, God sent Himself as Jesus to pay the cost for us. His righteousness, His death, functions as payment. Paying the price for sin, Jesus died and rose again. Everyone who trusts in Him alone has eternal life. Then you can stand alone in full confidence of God’s forgiveness.
