Chihayafuru
It's a hidden gem of an anime this season about 2 guys (Arata & Taichi) and a girl (Chihaya) who share a passion of karuta (a memory card game of a 100 poems) since childhood. But after parting ways and moving on with life, Chihaya clings on to the passion of the game in the hope that the trio will play the game together again.
So far, I've watched 6 episodes and I'm hungry for more.
Episode 6 Review
The setting up of the karuta club seems tedious as Chihaya tries to find new members to join the club. Apparently, Chihaya & Taichi need at least 5 members for the club to be recognised. Soon, they stumble upon a girl with a passion for history and culture, affectionately known as Kana-chan.
When Kana-chan explains the backstory of the Chihaya card, I realised that it forebodes the Arata/Chihaya/Taichi triangle as well as hints at how it will all end. Remember when Chihaya calls herself the queen and Arata as the king? Now connect that to the poem. Guess that means Taichi's gonna remain the coward and pine away for his love, possibly in a poem with a hidden meaning. Poor thing. (Mind you, this is not a spoiler. I have not read the manga so I don't know the ending. It's just me trying to connect the dots. How it all ends we won't know till the end of the anime... unless of course, you've already read the manga.)
