One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

"He/She never told us that he/she loved us."

- A common eulogy said by children of conservative parents

Seems like many of us can attest to this.

Just when we get too comfortable living with the same person that we go about our daily grind and get lazy in building our relationship, we start wondering if this person actually loved us.

A moment ago, I was caught offguard when I wondered the same thing about God. Does He really love me? He doesn't seem to tell me so. Darn... I must be getting old and forgetful.

John 3:16 immediately pops into my mind, clear as day. Then, "Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so."

After overcomplicating my life for years, what I could use right now is simple. Back to basics, it is.
