Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Finale
Awesome ending! I loved that the ending gave a decent closure for most of the characters and yet left it open for future possibilities.
Ed, Al & Winry
- Ed & Al heading west & east reminded me of the story of the Amestrian/Xing legend of the Sage of the West/East (a.k.a. Hohenheim/Father).
- As much as I dislike Winry, I was surprisingly glad about EdWin's cute/sweet equivalent exchange confession. Sounds very Hohenheim. OMG Ed's son totally looks like little Ed. I almost thought that pic was an old Hohenheim/Trisha/Ed & Al pic. Yay for Ed & Al's "apple pie" happy ending!
- I felt a tinge of sadness when Ed tried to perform alchemy on the roof. But Al can still do it, right?
- Black Hayate & unknown BLOND female dog (Royai, anyone?)
- I almost thought Mustang was gonna give up on Marcoh's philosopher stone due to Ed's reasoning. But yay for Havoc & Roy, thanks to Marcoh & the Ishbalans' sacrifice.
- Wait, Falman has kids?! I missed this part. Time to rewatch.
- Hm... Havoc, Rebecca & Breda? Sounds like a possible love triangle. Then again, I almost thought Maria Ross' short stint under Havoc seemed interesting to explore. Plus, with Denny Brosh being so protective of Ross, who knows?
- I don't know what to call it. Musta-che/Mustang-tache? Or / \ ? Oh, please, no. Trying to be like Bradley or Grumman already? Lieutenant, you have the right to shoot him. Why did you cut your beautiful hair, btw? To signify a fresh start? I look forward to the day Mustang shaves and Hawkeye's hair grows out once more.
The people don't look happy.
Ling & the Xings (Catchy, no?)
- Ling rubbing it in & May crying made me laugh. But it was sweet that Ling offered to take in the other clans, though it seems that a little part of Greed rubbed off on him. Aw... Greed made his mark and lives on in Ling's heart. Pity that the anime cut the part where Lan Fan brought Fu back to Xing. I wanted some LingFan!
- Behind every successful man is a supportive woman (Hint: look carefully in the background of Ling's coronation pic, to the right. Also see the next pic, the one where a certain blond stands closely behind Musta-che).
- I'm still confused about who works for who. Does Scar work for Olivier or Mustang? I'll have to rewatch this part. Of course, the new superior/subordinate relationship might be interesting to explore.
- Little "Bullseye" Selim trying to save a bird reminded me of the "little Ed/Al trying to save a stray kitten" flashback (see first FMA series, episode 13)
- Grumman becoming Fuhrer was expected, considering that Mustang was still blind and in recovery (with Hawkeye by his side, no less!). Mustang might eventually become Fuhrer after Grumman retires.
- At one point, Grumman's sneaky grin made me think he might be the next evil Fuhrer. Selim might also have a potential Pride lurking beneath the bull's eye. And what did Bradley mean when he said that (and I paraphrase) his bond with his wife needed no words and that she knows what has to be done? Maybe Mrs. Bradley had known they were Homunculi all along and was to carry out Father's backup plan. She sure put on a good show, though. But maybe that's just me.
Banzai, Fullmetal Alchemist! Thank you, Arakawa Hiromu & BONES!
