Special Fluff

a Zero no Tsukaima, Special A & Itazura na Kiss review

Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo (Season 3)
It was really painful to watch this series. In fact, it doesn't deserve a spot in this S.A and Itazura na Kiss post. Unfortunately, I watched this series at around the same time as the other 2 and I was too lazy to create separate posts.

Anyway, on to the series. The opening and ending themes were so unbearable that I thought I was watching a kid's show. It's even worse that its content is more pervy than expected.

Saito is ok. He can be pervy, but at least when he's in battle, he doesn't fool around. Louise, on the other hand, is a total spoilt brat who keeps demanding Saito's attention. I mean, she can't expect Saito to be her slave 24-7. Tabasa/Tabitha's story is one of the few things that kept me watching till the end.

Special A a.k.a. S.A
With S.A now drawn to a close, I just had to post my thoughts on it.

From the start, it was pretty obvious that S.A was meant to be Kei/Hikari. The first few episodes seemed like fillers, but did their job of introducing the characters. Despite the jokes getting old (e.g. Miss Rank-Two), when the plot finally took off in episode 6, S.A. rocked.

Of course, there were the ups and downs. I really liked the Yahiro-bad guy plot and the Tadashi/Akira plot. But what I didn't like was the Jun/Sakura plot. Even the Yahiro/Megumi plot seemed rushed.

After watching the ending in episode 24, I feel kinda short-changed. It wasn't as impressive as I had hoped, but was more of a summary of the skills that the S.A had. I suppose you'll feel the nostalgia of everyone in the S.A doing what they do best yet doing it together.

I already had a bad feeling of the ending after watching episode 23, where Hikari chased Kei as his plane was taking off. Even at the end, I felt that there wasn't much closure to the show. What was a major killer was the re-used "Miss Rank Two" line at the very end. I almost wanted to kill Kei for that. Oh well, I guess it's really over. On second thought, Hikari actually won Kei at something. She won his heart right from episode 1.

Itazura na Kiss
Seriously, this anime is the ultimate romance comedy. I got hooked right from episode 1. I thought I wouldn't like such shoujo-type anime, but this series can be classified as a guilty pleasure. Sure, the character drawings may not be the best, but the plot and humour somehow won me over. It's so good that I was inspired to write Where You Are.

Kotoko may be clumsy and somewhat of an airhead, but when it comes to determination, she can't be beat. Naoki may be a genius, but he ain't a genius at everything, especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

After watching the ending in episode 24, I have to say that it owned S.A. It was awesome, even though it was a little sad that there were huge time gaps throughout. I actually wanted the series to be longer so that those gaps could be filled in. I want more Naoki/Kotoko. (On a side-note, Kotomi is so cute!)

By the way, episode 25 is the final episode, but viewers have complained that it was a random way to end the series. Episode 24 should be the real ending, and episode 25 should've been shown earlier, perhaps as episode 16, as it occurred right after the honeymoon, according to the manga. Other than that, you'll be satisfied with how the series turned out.

It's a good thing that everyone has flaws, or the world would be boring.
